The alienation by hyperrealism in two short films by Vermeir & Heiremans (BE).
In The Good Life (a guided tour) (2009, 17') an eloquent broker sells the idea of the redevelopment of an arts center to luxury apartments to a group of potential costumers. Her perfect world is shattered, however, by the soundtrack of Justin Bennett.
The Residence (A Wager for the Afterlife) (2012, 37') shows the artist as entrepreneur. A Faustian allegory about the balancing act of the creative class in a globalized world where money is the measure of all things. After the screening, Vermeir & Heiremans will have a conversation with Rob Hamelijnck and Nienke Terpsma (Fucking Good Art).
